A little update.

All my free time has virtually disappeared. Which means my blog posts are either nonexistent or random. So...buckle up :)

Daddy snuggles!

KATE:

Kate is such a happy girl. She loves to smile. She rarely laughs, but instead does this high-pitch yelp whenever she is really happy. It's hilarious. She is rolling all over the place and has just started to scoot her knees under her bum. She loves her brother. She watches his every move. Jack is the only one that can really get her to giggle nonstop. It's the cutest. She just tried her first foods the past couple days! A few pieces of corn and some pureed carrots and she seemed to enjoy both! She is definitely a thumb sucker. She's a great sleeper; 12 hrs at night with usually one feeding sometime in there plus three naps each day. She is wiggly. In fact, at her 6 month appointment the nurse said she was the most wiggly and talkative 6 mo. old she had ever seen. Then the doctor said pretty much the same and then added, "she must keep you busy!" I've never felt like she was any busier than Jack, so it doesn't seem crazy or hard (well...any harder than having a 6 mo. old and a 2 yr. old is "regularly"). We are all just a bunch of movers and shakers, I suppose.

Her smile seriously melts my heart. Like I have tears in my eyes thinking about it. Don't judge.

JACK:

Jackson is one happy and crazy two and a half year old. He is currently loving all things water-reated, cutting/coloring/tearing paper, throwing balls and reading. We could read for days and days. My mom started telling Jack made-up stories at the beach and now he LOVES to listen to stories. He will sit next to me for 30 minutes at a time listening to made up stories about Iggy the lizard and Ian his owner and their adventures :) All the story-telling has already made a huge impact on his imagination or at least his expression of it. He used to "read" books to himself, but only ones that he had read before and he would repeat what he had memorized from us reading to him. Now, he will look at books that he's never read and make up stories by looking at the pictures. It was really cool to see how quickly he changed. Thanks, mom!! He's the only 2 yr. old I know that pays such close attention in the car to where we are going. We were driving downtown a few days ago to take Chuck to work and he said, "Are we taking daddy to school?" When we told him no, he asked, "Are we going to see Uncle Glen in the play when we was a pig?" (which was performed at the Opera House, to which we only took him to ONCE). Both of the those places are also downtown. I was floored. He knows in general where the library, the dr. office, the grocery store, Target and home are. He is the sweetest big brother. He dotes on Kate all the time. He will give her random hugs and kisses, bring her toys and sing her songs. A while ago I had laid Kate down on the floor so I could go change clothes in the bedroom, I heard Jack saying "Oh hi, miss Kate" and peeked around the door frame to make sure he was being gentle. He had laid down right next to her and had his arm around her belly and was snuggling up with her. It is these moments that I wish I could freeze and keep forever.

I love these kiddos so much. The make my life so full.

I know that was a random smattering of photos, but I decided it was better than not posting at all :) We've had a wondering spring and beginning of summer! Life sure is sweet.

Jack's big boy room.

Jack has officially graduated into boy hood with a twin bed and new bedding! And I finally got his room all put together. He's only 2 years old...right?

I used my Christmas money to buy new sheets, bedding and that fabulous rug for the little man. And I love it. Thank you, Target for fulfilling all my shopping needs.

 Since we stole all of Jack's furniture (his dresser and crib) for little Kate, we bought this simple dresser at Ikea for a whopping $70.00. I slapped some Kona stain on there and it works like a charm!

Side note: I wish Ikea was in Lexington - I'm truly in love. Although, I don't think my budget and Ikea would be conducive in such close proximity. Sigh.

I painted and framed these little guys to match Jack's crib bedding and they still work great with his new stuff. YAY!

Closet, clock (also a Target find) and Jack's beloved bookshelves. I'm planning on adding a few more bookshelves since his books seem to multiple by the day. What can we say, we are a book loving bunch.

That lovely little rocker is what Chuck got me as a surprise right before Jackson was born. It travelled all the way here from Utah! And that cute orange owl pillow was a gift from Grandma Woods.

I finally made a piece of art for Jack's room too. He was really excited, which melted my heart.

The tree decal was something I got with a groupon when we first moved in. Do you spy all the stuffed animals hiding in the corner over there? They are usually covering his whole bed. In fact, I pretty much had to bribe him to leave them off the bed long enough to let me take photos.

His name letters used to be brown and orange, but with the addition of navy blue into his room, I decided to redo the letters too! He even helped me paint them, which he was also extremely excited about :)

 One of his favorite spots in the house. He was reading to his teddy because "teddy bear don't know words."

I really love how everything has turned out, even if it did take quite a while to pull it all together :)

Kate's Nursery

I finally snapped some photos of Kate's nursery! This time around I was much more diligent about getting a space ready than I was with Jack. To be fair, Jack didn't have his own room until he was 8 months old (when we moved into my mom's town home). However, my nesting instinct took over and I insisted that Kate have her own nursery (in the guest room/sun room). She hasn't slept in here yet, but don't say that to Chuck, he'll just sigh and say nesting is "definitely a real thing." :)

 Her room serves as both a nursery and a guest room! The shutters are extras we had from the master room headboard. I was lazy and just set them up behind the bed :) The bedding was what my mom had when she lived here. I think I'm planning on getting a white duvet and making it more simple with some fun bright pillows to match Kate's bedding. Any thoughts? Also, ignore the ugly table lamp. I bought that at a yard sale when we first got married and haven't updated it yet. And, ignore the random stool. We have lots of random furniture that I don't know what to do with. So it went there.

The crib and changing table were what we used with Jack. My mom also left that little white storage cabinet in the linen closet, so I stole that to use for more storage. This room doesn't have a closet and a it's a girl's bedroom. Poor planning on my part, I know. Who knew babies could have so many accessories?  Ignore the bright bouncy chair and play mat. I tried putting them away but Jackson insisted on getting them out every time I changed Kate's diaper. So, now they stay out :)

I made Kate's bedding myself. That's right. Me and a sewing machine. Pretty proud of my self (but please don't look too closely). The crib skirt was super easy - I used this tutorial. I almost ripped the blanket apart a few times (or threw it out the back door), but it eventually came together! (I followed this tutorial with a few alterations).

 Those double doors lead to our bedroom. Super convenient!

 This is where the magic happens. But, really. That basket on the left is FULL of baby blankets that were given - so thoughtful!

This chair is an old family heirloom. The blanket laying on top was lovingly made by Grandma Krebs.

If anyone has ideas for the walls where the twin bed is, I'd love to hear them! I'm at a loss for what to put there. A mix of prints and photos for a nice gallery wall is what I've been thinking as of late.
