2 years and going strong.

I'm a terrible wife. Or at least incredibly forgetful. I can't believe I haven't blogged about our 2 year anniversary...that was in May. Whoops. So...
May 29, 2010: The beginning of forever

Chuck and I have officially been married for 2 years! We were married on May 29, 2010, one of my favorite days. ever. Since Mom Krebs birthday is on the 29th, we decided to celebrate the Saturday before. And because Chuck planned our one year anniversary in Fiji, it was my turn to plan our anniversary. Of course, how could I top a resort in Fiji? But, I tried.

I mean, really, does it get much better?
LOVE.
Awesome Anniversary.

I wanted to reflect on our first two years of marriage and so I tried to plan activities that were memorable for us and that stood for different stages of our marriage.

First, Jackson and I got up and made breakfast for Dad in bed. He was really happy to be able to sleep in on Saturday (He usually wakes up early with Jack so I can sleep in...reason #4,578 why I love my husband). I had made Chuck breakfast in bed on our honeymoon for his birthday. So, in order to honor our honeymoon, I did it again.

Breakfast in bed.

Second, we went over to mom's townhouse and went for a walk around the sidewalk path. The original plan was to go to Jacobsen Park, but we decided to stay close to air-conditioning since it was pretty hot outside. We went for a walk to commemorate our first year of marriage. Our first year was full of, well, firsts. Starting our first holiday traditions, having sleepovers in the living room during the Christmas season, traveling all over, and plenty more :)

Third, we went to lunch at the Lexington Country Club, where we held our reception. It was fun to go back in time to our wedding day and relive some of the wonderful memories. (Thanks to Grandma Woods for hanging out with Jackson!)

Fourth, we cooked a staple dish in the Krebs home: Yellow Curry. This is a favorite of ours and represents us well. We used this time to celebrate our second year of marriage. We graduated from BYU, had our beautiful son, went to Fiji for four months, got into UK Law, and moved to Kentucky! Our second year was quite eventful.

Lastly, we flashed back to our teenage years when we first met. We watched a movie at home to commemorate our first date on July 20th, 2004. That date was the start of a forever friendship that has blossomed into a beautiful marriage.

I was telling Chuck just a few days ago how much we have grown into each other. When we first got married I thought I couldn't love a person any more than I did at that moment. I was wrong. My love has grown and multiplied a million times over since that day. I was looking through a "love box" that I made for Chuck for Christmas 2010 where I wrote 100 reasons why I loved him. I realized that I had so many different and new reasons why I love him now. I'm so grateful to be married to a righteous, loving, ever-happy, helpful, out-going, talkative, funny and forgiving husband. He's a pretty awesome Dad and husband if you ask me :)

Bring on year number three!

Happy Love Day.

Chef's Table. Also known as the best restaurant ever.
Valentine's Day(s) was awesome. Chuck surprised me on Monday, the 13th with a vase of roses and a card when I woke up. The card was asking me to go to dinner with him that evening. It was really cute :) Then later on in the day, he sent me a romantic and only slightly cheesy e-card telling me that I had a massage scheduled at 4:30pm that day before dinner! Do I have an awesome husband? (The answer is yes.)

We went to Chef's Table (if you are ever in Utah Valley, I highly recommend it--best meal I have ever had...really). DELICIOUS. Nicole and David were kind enough to babysit little Jackson for us while we went to dinner. While we were there we both joked about something Jackson does. Chuck said, "Man, I already miss him." Now I know why parents are always paranoid about leaving their kids and always take forever to get out of the house. We are those parents now...weird.

Sorry for the lame phone picture...we forgot the camera.
It was an awesome day :)

The next day I cleaned up the house and made a roast for a nice dinner at home. I even got out the place mats and real napkins. Fancy, I know. And I went all out for dessert: vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup. In my defense, it's one of Chuck's favorites (Lucky for me, he is pretty easy to please). I had started a "love week" since the previous tuesday writing notes to him and leaving them around the house. Some had date ideas that we did that night, some had money to buy his favorite treats, some had coupons to get out of chores. I also made a shutterfly book of Jackson. It's kind of a selfish gift because I love it too :)

All in all it was a great Love day for the Krebs family. It helps when you have such a loving husband :)

Husband of the Century

That's right, there is a Husband of the Century award. And I'll tell you why Chuck deserves it...

Awesome things my husband does:

1. While I was away in Kentucky/South Carolina playing with my family and having a grand ole' time, my husband was eating frozen burritos, going to class, applying for Law schools and working. When I finally came back to Utah, he had a lovely little surprise waiting for me in our incredibly clean apartment when I got home:
My new favorite piece of furniture!

We had been discussing getting a rocker for when little peanut arrives, but weren't really sure if it was worth it. But let me tell you, it's the most comfortable seating in our house currently and I'm sure it will make all the difference at 3am when our little guy gets hungry!

2. Chuck is a pretty busy guy. And when I say pretty busy, I mean he's booked almost every day from morning until evening. He's a full-time student, works part-time, is a Program Director for Community Outreach Day (a service program through BYU), is the Vice President of Professional Development for the PRSSA chapter at BYU, is "Joseph" in the Savior of the World Production that our Stake is putting on for Christmas, works in the Bradley Lab (an "internship" type experience for PR students who work for real clients, but don't get paid. Bummer) and is the Executive Secretary in our ward. All in all, he's got a pretty full plate. But, he still finds time to:
  •  Eat dinner with me almost every night.
  • Take me out on awesome dates on the weekends.
  • Do the dishes.
  • Help me reorganize something that we've already reorganized...without complaining.
  • Watch TV shows with me at night even though he doesn't really have time.
AND, when he comes home after a twelve hour day and I tell him that I slept until 11am, didn't go to the gym because I was too tired, only made quesadillas for dinner because I didn't feel like standing up for that long and only did one scrapbook page even though our front room is covered in scrapbook junk...he just smiles and kisses me and says, "It's so good to see you."

3. I'm getting to the point where almost every position is uncomfortable and my fat feet hurt all the time. Wanna know what he does? Gives me foot massages and back massages. The best part? I don't even ask.

4. Chuck writes the press releases for BYU Communications, specifically the Arts releases. One of the perks is that he gets free tickets to any arts show on campus! So, this weekend he took me to the BYU Singers and Concert Choir show--a beautiful concert. We went to the matinee showing and hung out on campus afterwards, checking out the BYU Bookstore goodies and grabbing subway sandwiches for dinner. That same day, we went to the evening showing of "White Christmas." It was an absolutely fantastic performance and I highly recommend it to anyone in the area :) So, he's pretty great and taking me out on dates.

We tried to take this picture approximately 14 times...this was our best shot :)
The lovely show :)

5. While the list could go on...quite literally forever, I'll just end by saying that he is one of the most patient and caring people on the planet. He listens to me complain about inconsequential things and doesn't make fun, he lets me put my feet on him whenever we are watching a movie on the couch because it's more comfortable for me, he lets me lean on his shoulder during church even when the heat is on and it's miserably hot, he says that everything I cook is delicious (which we all know cannot possibly be true), he tells me I'm beautiful almost everyday even though I mostly feel like a fat cow, most of all he shows me that he loves me in all the most fantastic and simple ways that a husband should.

And the Husband of the Century award goes to...
So, the Husband of the Century? Definitely Chuck Krebs.

Thanks Chuck for being one of the best people I know. And for marrying me. That was pretty awesome too :)

Eating without Em...

Em was gone for the last week in KY, without me. I took a picture of the receipt from my stag grocery shopping trip... it might be a little telling of what the mouse does when the cat is away.
Frozen pizza and burritos, ice cream, chips and hot dogs. But there are some redeeming qualities - carrots, corn and spinach. The burritos were gone when Emily got home, as was the ice cream - carrots and spinach were still hangin'  on strong.

Missed you Em, so did my health :).
