Sandy toes.

June 9-16. Beach Week 2012.

As always, in June of this year, we gathered with my family and three other families for a week of fun in the sun. We gathered at Edisto Island this year and everyone made an appearance at some point during the week! Even the newest member of the beach crew :)

Grandma and Jack chillin' on the beach.

Discovering the sand for the first time.

Not a huge fan of the waves at first.

Em and Andy rockin' out.

The audience.

Jackson's best buddy.

Yep, Jack made it out in the ocean on a boogie board, I was on the verge of a heart attack the whole time.

That's a Kentucky boy.

The "kids crew" minus Bryan and the O'Sullivans.

Man, he's a happy kid.

Trying to sneak the sand into his mouth.

Aunt P did his hair into a mohawk. He looks pretty GQ if you ask me :)

Annette made him some adorable hats! And he OBVIOUSLY loves them.

The Krebs family :)

Some of our favorite things:
1. Watching Jackson discover the beach for the first time.
2. Playing catch phrase with the whole crew.
3. Being on the ever-losing catch phrase team.
4. Going on Bike rides around Edisto Island.
5. Seeing a man in homemade "shock" tennis shoes yell, "150 pts.!" every time he swung his club (swung, not hit) at the driving range.
6. Laying in the sun.
7. Reading wonderful books (except The Pilot's Wife...horribly depressing).
8. Eating DELICIOUS food.
9. Trying out some new baking recipes on the beach crew.
10. Long porch chats.
11. Going on our customary beach walks.
12. Spending so much time with family and friends.

Until next year!

Oh hello, internet.

My gracious father and his girlfriend, Kathy, allowed Chuck and I to live in the basement of my childhood home while we were in transition from Utah to the townhome in Kentucky. Not only did they let us take over their basement, they feed us dinner, let Jack get into practically everything, shared groceries with us and babysat! We had a blast living with them and are grateful for the time we were able to spend together.

However, since all the girls had moved out, my Dad discontinued his internet service, logically. I guess it's true what they say about the younger generation and their addiction to technology because, wow.  Chuck, my lovely twitter-happy, espn-loving, hulu-watching, google-friendly husband and I, the pinterest addict, blog stalker, all-recipes queen, struggled to live "disconnected."

While I'm glad we had a few months to experience life before internet (like using actual cookbooks for recipes, getting out maps to figure out where something is, looking through magazines to design our townhome, etc.), I am happy to report we are "connected" yet again. And what did we do last night? Watched White Collar on hulu in bed. Just like the good ole' days.

So, we're back :)

7 months.

Jackson is officially 7 months old today. Man, the time flies. He just gets cuter and more fun the bigger he gets. Being a mom is the bomb.com :)
Jackson playing with Roxy :)

He gets SO happy when he can stand up all on his own.

Some cool new things that Jack is doing these days:
1. Scratching his head. It's the cutest thing. He just found his hair and he likes to scratch at it and sometimes pull at it pretty hard.
2. Crawl around every where. He mostly scoots on one leg that he sits on and then pulls himself forward with the other one. It reminds me of his cute cousin, Grant. When he sees something he really wants (i.e. cords, plastic bags, trashcans...) he will do a full-on, hands and knees crawl.
3. Talking up a storm. He usually sticks with a form of "ba-ba" (i.e. "Blah-blah," "ah-ba," "bap-ba"). Sometimes it sounds like da-da, but I'm not really convinced yet.
4. He has the funniest "poop face." He gets really still, goes red in the face and grunts.
5. He just started pulling up on furniture a week or so ago. He's gotten pretty good at not bonking his head. He is away of the edges of the coffee table and he pulls up really slow and pulls his head back. Doesn't scare me quite so much.
6. He gets really spastic when he gets sleepy. He can't decide which toys to play with, drops everything and can't stop moving.
7. He LOVES water. He has learned to splash and laughs when he does it. He wasn't a huge fan of the ocean the first couple of days, but he got used to it and decided he loved it. The pool is also one of his favorite places.
8. Books. He loves when we read together. It's about the only time he will sit still in my lap.
9. Peek-a-boo. One of his favorite games.
10. Songs. Wheels on the bus is his favorite right now.
11. Making friends. He will chat it up and grin and just about anyone. Like Chuck said, Jack has really increased my social time. He's a friendly guy.
12. Cups. He still loves to chew on cups, drink out of cups, throw cups.
13. Bananas are still his favorite food, but he likes his sweet potatoes, apples, pears, oatmeal, mixed veggies and squash.
14. He loves to climb all over mom and dad. It's his first form of wrestling :)
15. Naps have gotten a little more complicated now that he can stand up in his crib. He riles himself up when I put him down...hm.
16. He loves to be outside and go for walks.
17. Whenever he flops over or falls down he always looks up at me with the most concerned/confused face and lays there for a minute before he decides that he's okay.
18. He is SO happy. Pretty much all the time. Makes my day.
19. If we are eating, he stares down our food until we finally give him some or feed him some of his own baby food.
20. Okay, he's just so cute. And that's all I have to say.

Standing up in his crib = happy Jack and slightly worried mom.

He got his foot caught in his sleeper when he was rolling around with dad on the floor :)

Cuddling with papa :)

Playing in the sand for the first time!

Dad and Jack with matching shades.

So, I feel like the luckiest person on the planet. I have a fabulous husband who is a wonderful father and I have an adorable son who is so happy and makes my life a million times more fun than it used to be. It's pretty much awesome :) Happy Sunday, everyone :)

6 months.

Jackson is officially half way to one year. My, my how time flies! When Jackson was just a newborn I remember seeing older babies and thinking, "Man, they are not nearly as cute as little newborns!" And now I can't imagine how I thought that! Jackson is so much more fun, expressive, active and talkative. I do miss all the cuddling and snuggling, but it's worth the smiles, laughs and curiosity.

His new stats:

Weight: 14 lbs. 9 oz. (5th percentile) He's such a little tyke.
Length: 25.75 in. (20th percentile)
Weight and Length percentile: 10th

Some cool things that Jackson is doing these days...

1. He's into a great routine! He takes 3 naps relatively consistently. Two great morning and early afternoon naps that are usually 2 hours and then an early evening nap that is usually about an hour. He sleeps ten hours almost every night. Makes momma and Jack happy :)
2. He is sitting up like an all-star.
3. He is really close to crawling. He will get up onto all fours and he can scoot himself backwards. He can get to anything he wants to, but it just takes him a while.
4. Making noise with his toys is his new favorite thing. He will bang his toys on the table or ground. In fact, the other day he wacked Grandma Woods in the face with a spoon that he was banging on the table!
5. People are still his favorite thing to watch.
6. He LOVES his food. Any fruit he loves. Vegetables are another story. So far we've got him to tolerate sweet potatoes and squash. Still working on anything green :)
7. He likes to grab the spoon and do it himself sometimes.
8. Walking around or being outside are some of his favorite things.
9. We went swimming a few days ago and he was so fascinated by the water.
10. He loves to flip onto his tummy while we are changing his diaper...sometimes if he has a toy, he does better :)
11. He is a grabber. I have to be careful when I'm shopping because he's been known to grab things!
12. He's still ticklish...and I love it :)
13. He really is so happy. He laughs and smiles at everyone and loves to play.

These photos are from our first "official" photo shoot with Jackson. I'm so grateful we did it because I love them!

I love our little guy and the joy that he brings to us. Being a mom has opened my eyes and my heart to the love that Heavenly Father has for his children. I love it!

Growing up.

Just wanted to give you guys a few pictures of our adorable growing little man. I can't believe how different he is each day. Man do the months fly by.

Loves his shoes. Mainly because he can chew them.

LOVES his food.

Krebs + Woods = EXCELLENT eater :)

Before I know it he'll be driving our car and getting all embarrassed by my kisses. Sigh.

The Graduate.

Okay, so he's no Dustin Hoffman, but...

He did it! Chuck graduated from BYU with a Bachelor's in Public Relations and minors in International Development and Music.
Loving the tassle.

so proud of his papa.
Mom and Dad Krebs as well as the new driver, little Glen, made the trek across the country to celebrate! Oh, and to help us move. The Adams came up too! We felt so special that they took the time to celebrate with us, and even more grateful that they helped us pack up our little apartment and head back to the homeland. How hard is it to pack up 300 sq. ft., really? Apparently we had accumulated MUCH more than I thought we had over the two years. Thank goodness family was there too help!

WOO HOO!!

He done did it.

Grandpa worked his magic skills and got Jack to sleep during convocation.

Dance party in the hotel room!

Our last few days in Provo were fast, but unforgettable. We will miss the beautiful mountains and our wonderful friends. Thanks for a great six years, Provo!
